Veda Austin

Veda Austin is a New Zealand water researcher, author, artist and mother of three. She is of part Maori descent, and her tribe affiliation is Tainui. Her father is famous Maori fisherman, Bill Hohepa, well known for his TV shows, fishing videos and Maori fishing calendar. It seems that a passion for all things water runs through the family.

Professionally, Veda works as a water researcher establishing the characteristics of 'healthy' water. Her methods go well beyond a typical lab report which mostly provide evidence of what's IN water, but reveal no information of the actual Water itself. She says common methods of water analysis are similar to reading a blood test and believing you know everything about that person from the results.

Veda discovered that there are clearly defined recurring patterns in ice that define spring water from tap water and healthy water from sick water. She has recorded hundreds of examples, and her groundbreaking discoveries are fast becoming a hot topic within the new science of water.

Personally, Veda has spent nearly a decade photographing water in a ‘state of creation’, the state between liquid and ice that she believes is responsive to consciousness. Veda views this important phase from three perspectives. Scientifically, water is becoming a liquid crystal, artistically, water is free to design, and from a spiritual level, water enters a phase of fluidity between space and time, and is in a place of ‘becoming’. Her technique is called Collective Molecular Photography (CMP) and captures macroscopic photos of water 'responding' to a variety of influences within a crystallographic medium. With well over 10,000 evidential images of water co-creating with consciousness, her work although hard to comprehend, cannot be disregarded. This communion with Water is evident in her latest book, ‘The Secret Intelligence of Water.’

Veda's passion for water extends out of the freezer and into primary schools where she donates time teaching water science and cleverly intertwines it with art projects. She loves to reconnect children to the living water systems inside and outside of their bodies, believing that the 'tamariki' (children) are the water bearers of the future. She also spends a lot of time doing interviews and podcasts where she shares her findings and inspiring perspectives.

"Water is the rebel element, it won't conform to the laws of physics or gravity and it can't be killed. Without it there is no life. It reincarnates for all to see and science tells us it came to Earth from outer space. Rebellious, nonconformist, eternal and alien.....just look at the power we are filled with."

Veda brings a message of hope and joy from the very source of life itself, she says “Water is transparent, it knows no colour, creed or religion. Water does not judge, nor does it label, it will enter the body of an ant as easily as it will enter the body of a king, or a homeless person or a tree or a dragonfly. Water is our constant companion, from the moment we are conceived it is always with us...even upon death, it is water that evaporates from the physical rising upwards into the Heavens."

Veda sees water as "Source rather than a resource", and considers all bodies of water to be sacred.
